Drug Resistance
R-Biopharm Australia provides advanced antimicrobial resistance testing solutions for the rapid, reliable detection of clinically significant antibiotic resistance genes. Using highly sensitive multiplex PCR technology, our molecular diagnostic panels enable comprehensive antimicrobial resistance PCR testing, delivering same-day identification of critical resistance markers including carbapenemases, extended-spectrum β-lactamases (ESBLs), methicillin resistance (mecA) and vancomycin resistance genes. By providing fast, accurate resistance gene detection, our assays support informed antimicrobial stewardship, improve infection prevention and control, and enable timely treatment decisions. Combined with automated extraction solutions and integrated PCR workflows, our antimicrobial resistance diagnostics provide an efficient end-to-end solution for modern hospital pathology and clinical microbiology laboratories.
Rapid Detection of Antimicrobial Resistance
Antimicrobial resistance continues to present significant challenges for healthcare systems worldwide, making rapid and accurate detection of resistance markers essential for effective patient care and infection control. R-Biopharm Australia’s multiplex PCR solutions enable clinical laboratories to identify clinically important antimicrobial resistance genes quickly and reliably, supporting informed treatment decisions and antimicrobial stewardship programs.
Designed for modern molecular diagnostic laboratories, our assays detect a broad range of resistance mechanisms, including carbapenemases, extended-spectrum β-lactamases (ESBLs) and methicillin resistance markers. By delivering comprehensive molecular results with fast turnaround times, our solutions help laboratories streamline workflows, improve diagnostic confidence and support better patient outcomes.

Drug Resistance PCR Testing Portfolio
CRE & ESBL
A selection of clinically relevant panels that detect resistance markers of Enterobacteriaceae which commonly cause infections within healthcare and community settings. High spread levels of extended-spectrum β-lactamases (ESBL) make testing for resistance increasingly necessary, since carbapenems are one of the few remaining antibiotics that can combat ESBL-producing pathogens. Although mostly effective, resistance enzymes such as carbapenemases confer antibiotic resistance, posing a serious public health concern.
These panels detect a representative selection of simple β-lactamases, extended-spectrum β-lactamases (ESBL) and carbapenemases. The selection of targets in each panel reflects the relevance of ESBL or CRE in different geographical regions.
